Legal firm Leasehold Law has announced the appointment of three new solicitors.
Highly experienced property solicitor Belinda Walkinshaw joined the firm as Managing Partner in March 2020. With more than three decades’ experience in this specialist sector, Belinda leads the firm’s team of leasehold enfranchisement experts.
Since her appointment, she has worked closely with Anna Bailey, CEO of the Leasehold Group of Companies and the late Louie Burns to make key hires that will significantly strengthen the residential property specialist’s leasehold enfranchisement team.
Belinda deals with both contentious and transactional work and has considerable expertise in litigation and dispute resolution. Her key focus is helping clients with all manner of property disputes, including complex and high value litigation in courts and tribunals such as the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Under Belinda’s leadership, Leasehold Law has also recently appointed two highly qualified and experienced enfranchisement solicitors, Dominic Danvers and Ahmed Anwar; recruitment is also underway for additional case workers and administrative support staff. The firm has recently relocated to new premises in East Croydon.
Dominic Danvers is a property solicitor with wide-ranging experience in litigation, advocacy and mediation. Since qualifying in 2006, Dominic has specialised primarily in leasehold reform work, covering areas including statutory lease extensions, statutory freehold purchases, the Right of First Refusal and the Right to Manage.
Property lawyer Ahmed Anwar is an experienced leasehold enfranchisement solicitor who was previously the head of the lease extensions and enfranchisement team at a leading property law firm in London. Ahmed has previously acted for both landlords and tenants in all aspects of leasehold enfranchisement matters and has broad experience in dealing with both voluntary and statutory lease extension matters, as well as voluntary and statutory freehold acquisitions.
Anna Bailey, CEO of The Leasehold Group of Companies and Founder and Director of the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP), said: “I have known Belinda for many years and enjoyed working with her immensely whilst she served on the ALEP Advisory Committee. I am delighted that she has joined Leasehold Law, bringing her considerable experience to bear for the benefit of the firm’s clients.
“I am also delighted to welcome Dominic and Ahmed, two highly experienced and successful leasehold law specialists, to the firm. Like Belinda, they are committed advocates of leasehold reform and will considerably strengthen our offer to clients as we continue our fight to champion the rights of leaseholders.
“We have seen a tremendous increase in the volume of leasehold enfranchisement work during the pandemic, as more leaseholders have had the time to review the status of their lease. These key appointments have been crucial to ensuring that Leasehold Law continues to offer an efficient, uninterrupted service throughout the Covid-19 lockdown period.”
Established in 2015, Leasehold Law is part of the Leasehold Group of Companies. Based in East Croydon, the firm works solely for leaseholders and provides specialist legal services to enable leaseholders to successfully extend their leases or purchase their freeholds.
